Small Habits, Big Impact: Unplug, Stay Curious, Help Others, and Greenify Your Space
10. Unplug –
Have some quiet, calm time regularly.
I tend to get overwhelmed easily and I don’t think I’m alone. It’s a consequence of the world we live in.
To help counteract that, most evenings I turn off my TV, phone, and any music about 30 minutes before bedtime.
This calms my mind down, improves my sleep, and helps restore my balance.
I find it incredibly helpful and highly recommend it.
Benefits –
• Reduces overwhelm
• Calms the nervous system
• Improves sleep
• Lowers stress
• Creates mental clarity

11 Ask –
Stay curious.
If you’ve ever seen a young child, you may have noticed that they tend to ask a lot of questions – about everything!
A friend told me once that her 5-year old wanted to know what God’s last name is. Hmmm.
Children are naturally curious and unafraid to investigate. As adults we can lose that curiosity because of busyness, lack of time, or simply being focused elsewhere.
Try once or twice a week to be intentionally curious. Ask questions, investigate, check things out.
Benefits –
• Stimulates the brain
• Encourages lifelong learning
• Boosts creativity
• Expands perspective
• Keeps your mind engaged

12. Help -
If you see someone who can use a hand, lend one.
This is another action with dual benefits. Helping someone else obviously benefits them, but it benefits us as well.
Most of us feel good when we give back in some way – I know that’s how it works for me!
Big gestures are wonderful—but often it’s the small kindnesses that matter most.
Benefits –
• Boosts mood
• Creates connection
• Increases purpose and meaning
• Reduces stress
• Strengthens compassion

Sometimes small steps are enough. Sometimes we need extra support. If that’s where you are, I’m here to help.
13. Greenify
Your environment.
Ok, this really isn’t a word. But I couldn’t find one that said exactly what I wanted so I made one up.
What I mean by this is to add plants throughout your home and office space.
I’ve done this for years – in both places - and I love how my spaces look and feel, and how much better I feel and function in them.
Not a plant person? No worries.
Start with Pothos – it’s a vine that probably every plant store will have. It grows beautifully indoors and is hard to kill (always a big plus!).
And you can now get self-watering pots that make care even easier.
Give it a shot!
The pic is of a couple of mine that I’ve had for years.
Benefits –
• Reduces stress
• Improves mood
• Creates a calming environment
• May improve focus and productivity
• Brings a little nature indoors
