Stress

Feeling Overwhelmed? Start Here!

When we’re overwhelmed, our natural tendency is often to do more. We work longer, push harder, and tell ourselves we’ll finally catch up tomorrow.

Unfortunately, that can keep the cycle of overwhelm going.

Instead of trying to fix everything at once, ask yourself:

“What is one thing I can do right now that would make today feel a little lighter?”

It might be completing one important task, saying no to an unnecessary commitment, taking a short walk, or giving yourself permission to pause and breathe.

One of my favorite ways to unwind is surprisingly simple. I turn off all the noise—no television, music, or scrolling—and sit quietly with my dogs, Chewy and Farley. I pet them, breathe deeply, and enjoy a few moments of stillness.

Those moments remind me that peace isn’t always something we find. Sometimes it’s something we intentionally create.

This Weekend’s Practice

Identify one thing you can release before next week begins. It might be an unrealistic expectation, an unnecessary obligation, or the belief that you must do everything perfectly.

Sometimes the greatest step toward peace isn’t adding something to your life. It’s releasing something you were never meant to carry.

Today’s Thought Optimizer® Strategic Statement (TOSS)

I invest my energy where it matters most and take one thoughtful step at a time, knowing I can adjust as I go.

What is one peaceful step you’re choosing this weekend?

Moving from stress to God’s peace—one practical step at a time.
